Applied Metaphysics – Observing the Reflection

Updated: Dec 30, 2022

This week, when you read the news, instead of allowing yourself to be emotionally triggered by events going on in others lives, just observe what is happening as if it is their reflection.

You could take any public figure, but for the sake of an example, let’s use Elon Musk.

There are many people who are talking about him right now, judging him for this decision or that decision. The vast majority of us have no real stake in what happens in his life, so instead of forming an opinion about who this person is, consider that everything that is happening to him is a reflection of the collection of energy he carries within him and is expressing out to the world.

The larger the opportunity, the greater reflection can be witnessed.

Only he can change the energy he is expressing out into the world and just like the rest of us, what he is expressing is a projection of the energy he has within him; both what he is taking in on a regular basis and what he already has repressed over the course of his life.

You might say, “Oh, but this is just your opinion. You couldn’t possibly know this.”

I can see it. It’s obvious.

When you understand the world from a metaphysical perspective, it empowers you to change anything you desire in your world. It helps you finally break free of the “blame, shame, victim game” as you learn that no one else out there is holding you back or keeping you from achieving your dreams.

The way the world reacts to you is a reflection of the energy you carry within you.

I have written about this before using the example of professional athletes who have worked for much of their lives to reach the lofty goal of playing in one of the professional leagues, only to get there and either be hurt for much of their career or to derail themselves in a myriad of other ways.

These aren’t accidents. They’re reflections of the energies they have yet to heal.

Consider for just a moment perhaps a different concept for the purpose of life.

What if the purpose was for the soul to experience every possible situation; both the positive and negative in order to be able to choose to be the highest version of our Self in that situation?

If we consider life from this perspective, then the person didn’t necessarily come into this world with unique athletic gifts just to be an athlete. For athletes do get a variety of unique opportunities that come with the fruits of their work. But if they exploit the more negative opportunities vs. the positive choices, they get to experience a completely reality.

The soul may need to explore the negative side to understand the suffering resulting from these types of choices. These choices may feel good in the short term, but result in long term suffering...even if the level of this suffering is to stay stuck in the same situation for a long period of time or just to encounter the same type of experience again and again.

If we view the reflection as being the cause of what we feel, we go from job to job, relationship to relationship and continue to experience the same feelings of frustration, dissatisfaction and unhappiness.

If we view the world then from the perspective of vibration, meaning the higher and more positive choices have a higher vibration than the lower, more negative choices, then isn’t the types of opportunities that come to us more a reflection of our vibration than we realize?

Everything I wrote in my book, “A Path to Peace: A Reluctant Spiritual Journey” was a story of going from living completely unconscious to my personal vibration to a state of awareness. For many years, I was lost and reacting to my world very differently than how I live in the world today.

When I lower my vibration through whatever means, it limits the ideas and opportunities that come to me.

The same is true for you.

I loved Marianne Williamson’s quote from her book, “A Return to Love”:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God!

Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine like children do. We are meant to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not in some of us; it’s in all of us! And as we let our light shine, we unconditionally give others permission to do the same. As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

What is important to know as you start exploring yourself from the perspective of who and what you really are; your darkness will start to show up in your world. This is not a bad thing. This is a wonderful thing to happen, especially if you can see it all from the perspective of a reflection instead of your world falling apart.

In the Gospel of St. Thomas it says, “If you bring forth what is within you, it will heal you. If you do not bring it forth, it will destroy you.”

Let it come out, but instead of getting triggered by it, feel it. Use the Emotional Energy chart I’ve shared in my prior posts to identify what you are feeling as sometimes it helps to bring it out even more. It may help you to find someone you trust to talk about what you’re feeling so you can just FEEL it.

As I’ve noted before, Stephen Cope has a great set of guided exercises in “Yoga for Emotional Flow” to help you learn how to feel and release your emotions.

Elon Musk can choose suffering or empowerment and so can you. The more all of us see our reflection in the world as a teacher showing us what we most need to heal, the faster we will collectively heal.

If you need help, let me know.

Namaste
